Changchun, June 10, 2025 — At the 2025 Changchun International Optoelectronic Expo & Light International Conference, Jilin OledTech proudly showcased its latest breakthroughs in OLED display materials and equipment, signaling a major step forward for China’s display industry.
OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) technology, widely used in smartphones, televisions, computers, and automotive displays, is known for its vivid colors, deep blacks, and energy efficiency. Unlike traditional LCDs that require backlighting, OLED panels produce light through a thin layer of organic materials that emit light when electrically stimulated.
A key manufacturing process for OLED panels is vacuum thermal evaporation, where organic materials are vaporized and deposited onto display substrates. Central to this process is the evaporation source, a core component historically dominated by foreign suppliers, creating a significant bottleneck for China’s OLED production capabilities.
At the expo, OledTech presented its self-developed evaporation source model, marking a breakthrough in overcoming the “core technology” barrier. According to Cao Miao, Deputy Director of OledTech’s Project Office, “The OLED equipment industry involves high technical barriers. Since our founding, we have focused on research and development of OLED organic materials. Today, OledTech is among the few Chinese enterprises capable of independently producing end-use organic materials and key equipment.”
OledTech’s achievements include
Mass supply of OLED organic materials to leading domestic flat-panel manufacturers.
Development of OLED thin-film encapsulation materials that meet international performance standards, enabling domestic substitution.
Successful commercialization of PSPI photoresist materials used in OLED production.
Independent R&D and industrialization of the evaporation source, breaking foreign monopolies and achieving local production.
These advances contribute significantly to reducing China’s reliance on imports for critical OLED components, strengthening the domestic OLED supply chain, and accelerating technological self-reliance.
As the demand for high-performance OLED displays continues to grow, OledTech’s innovations position China’s display industry to lead the global market with cutting-edge, homegrown technology.
