Micro Display on Pimax Dream Air SE
May 13 — Pimax has launched its new VR headset, the Dream Air SE, a more affordable model compared to the original Dream Air released late last year. This lightweight headset weighs under 200g and features a comfortable fit with a fully automatic adaptive head strap. It incorporates a high-quality micro OLED display, delivering sharp visuals in a compact form. Pre-orders start at 4,845 RMB, with shipping expected in Q3.
The Dream Air SE features a Sony micro OLED display, offering a crisp resolution of 2560x2560 per eye. This micro OLED screen uses pancake lenses for a compact optical setup. As a small OLED display, it allows for a lightweight build while delivering high image quality. The headset also includes eye-tracking, automatic IPD adjustment, and foveated rendering for a smarter, more immersive experience.
This OLED micro display technology enables sharp visuals in a small form factor—ideal for modern VR headsets. Unlike standalone devices like the Meta Quest series, the Dream Air SE must be connected to a PC via DisplayPort for full performance with uncompressed video quality.
